Based on the life of writer and feminist activist Suzanne Césaire, Madeleine Hunt-Ehrlich’s debut feature explores the relationships with Césaire’s husband, French politician Aimé Césaire, and fellow surrealist André Breton. Shimmering with the radiance of its Caribbean landscape and a phenomenal performance from Zita Hanrot, the film breaks from traditional biographical structure, blending more conventional narrative with captivating experimental elements.
