Filmmaker to Filmmaker: Qubeka and Verster
This series highlights the work of two South African-based filmmakers, Jahmil X.T. Qubeka and François Verster, who each produce very different kinds of films, but are both at the leading edge of film production in South Africa and on the African continent. Their visit highlights the innovative and engaged work of a new generation of African filmmakers.
Curated by Marissa Moorman of the IU African Studies Program and Josh Malitsky from the Center for Documentary Research and Practice, with support from IU Cinema, the Black Film/Center Archive, College Arts and Humanities Institute, and the IU Food Institute. The Filmmaker Filmmaker program is endowed through a generous gift from Roberta and Jim Sherman, with an Indiana University Bicentennial Campaign Match. This partnership is supported through IU Cinema’s Creative Collaboration program.
Akin Omotoso has cancelled his trip to Indiana in October due to unforeseen circumstances regarding his filming schedule.
