As an art house theater, we strive to show every kind of movie: the gloriously trashy, the surefire crowd-pleaser, the criminally underseen, and everything in between. With over a decade of screenings under our belt, we’ve been lucky enough to spotlight many fantastic films, including the revered classics that comprise the much-discussed (and debated) “AFI 100 Years…100 Movies: The 100 Greatest American Movies of All Time” and Sight & Sound’s “Greatest Films of All Time” lists. Keeping in mind the historically exclusionary nature of these lists—marginalized groups such as women and people of color have often been overlooked in these rosters—they’re still a glimpse into many of the important cultural artifacts that create our cinematic past, present, and future.
With this page, you can see what films IU Cinema has screened from the AFI and Sight & Sound lists, as well as which ones have not yet lit up our screen.
