IU Cinema creates original, film-based media and other publications to aid in the development of intellectually and culturally enriching film education in our community.
KinoIU is IU Cinema's journal-style look back at our year in film. Comprised of original film writing, filmmaker interviews, information on our programming and standing series, student initiatives, and collaborative partnerships, KinoIU delves deep into the holistic work of IU Cinema's commitment to intellectual emancipation and cultural development through film and cinema studies.
Establishing Shot, IU Cinema's blog, critically frames cinema with original articles by a roster of dedicated movie lovers and guest contributors which reflect the Cinema’s programming with writing that is sometimes silly, occasionally academic, often thought-provoking, and always rewarding.
With over a decade of screenings under our belt, we’ve been lucky enough to spotlight many fantastic films, including those that comprise the “AFI 100 Years…100 Movies: The 100 Greatest American Movies of All Time” and Sight & Sound’s “Greatest Films of All Time” lists. With our Critics' Pics page, you can see what films IU Cinema has screened from the AFI and Sight & Sound lists, as well as which ones have not yet lit up our screen.
