About Armageddon
A ragtag crew of deep-core oil drillers are the best hope NASA and the world has to stop a giant asteroid hurtling toward Earth. Harry Stamper (Bruce Willis) has one week to get his boys back together and trained up to be astronauts capable of first landing on a space rock the size of Texas, then detonating a nuclear weapon to blow it off its collision course with our planet. Michael Bay just may be the only director who could create a Hollywood blockbuster disaster action movie of this level to find a place in the Criterion Collection. Ben Affleck, Billy Bob Thornton, Will Patton, William Fichtner, Liv Tyler, Owen Wilson, Steve Buscemi, Peter Stomare, Michael Clarke Duncan, Keith David, and Jason Isaacs round out the deep bench of talent in this epic fight for human survival. The soundtrack is pretty damn good, too. [151 min; action, sci-fi; English]
"Armageddon peels your eyelids back and blows your eardrums out until rational analysis is moot." — Michael O'Sullivan, Washington Post
"This idiotic film is loud, boorish and smart enough to relish its own lunkhead bravado." — Tom Charity, Time Out
"Clearly ridiculous, but damn it, we didn’t know what we had. This was a blast, and startlingly emotional by the end. The Aerosmith song is still a bop." — Cory Woodroof
