When his young daughter's beloved companion—an android named Yang—malfunctions, Jake (Colin Farrell) searches for a way to repair him. In the process, Jake discovers the life that has been passing in front of him, reconnecting with his wife (Jodie Turner-Smith) and daughter across a distance he didn't know was there. Alexander Weinstein, author of Children of the New World from which A24 adapted the story “Saying Goodbye to Yang” into this film, will be present for a Q&A after the screening and will also sign copies of his book. Alexander Weinstein is the author of the short story collections Universal Love and Children of the New World, which was chosen as a New York Times Notable Book of the Year and a best book of the year by NPR, Google, and Electric Literature. His fiction and interviews have appeared in Rolling Stone, World Literature Today, Best American Science Fiction & Fantasy, and Best American Experimental Writing. He is the founder and director of The Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing.
