Experience the unlikely romance of David Cronenberg's classic film. Special Valentine's Day screening!
David Cronenberg combines his trademark affinity for gore and horror with strongly developed characters, making The Fly a surprisingly affecting romantic tragedy. When scientist Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) completes his teleportation device, he decides to test its abilities on himself. Unbeknownst to him, a housefly slips in during the process, leading to a merger of man and insect. Initially, Brundle appears to have undergone a successful teleportation, but the fly's cells begin to take over his body. As he becomes increasingly fly-like, Brundle's girlfriend (Geena Davis) is horrified as the person she once loved deteriorates into a monster. [95 min; sci-fi, horror, romance; English]
"Wildly imaginative, gut-wrenchingly scarifying, and profoundly primal (not to mention funny), David Cronenberg's The Fly is a movie that whacks you in the solar plexus and leaves you gasping." — Carrie Rickey, Philadelphia Inquirer
"'Romance' isn’t always the first word that comes to mind when describing David Cronenberg’s nasty body horror nightmares, but The Fly is nothing if not a deeply loving film." — Nadine Smith, them.
"Goldblum and Davis’s chemistry here is scorching, raw, and believable... You find yourself far more deeply invested in what happens to them as a result, something that was not often afforded to horror movie characters." — Gena Radcliffe, The Spool
