About Jorgensen Guest Filmmaker Series Presents: Alexandre O. Philippe and Patton Oswalt

Join award-winning writer and filmmaker Alexandre O. Philippe and award-winning actor, writer, and comedian Patton Oswalt for an intimate and wide-ranging conversation on the influence and intertextuality of cinema.

Alexandre O. Philippe has made over 15 films in his prolific career, establishing himself as a modern master of documentary film and the premier chronicler of cinema, its global impacts, and the artists who create it. Tackling such luminaries as Alfred Hitchcock (78/52), George Lucas (The People vs. George Lucas), David Lynch (Lynch/Oz), Ridley Scott (Memory: The Origins of Alien), William Shatner (William Shatner: You Can Call Me Bill), and many more, Philippe's work is the rare combination of accessible, entertaining, and deeply thought-provoking. We are thrilled to welcome him back to IU Cinema with his new film, Chain Reactions, which explores the indelible impact of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre and our enduring draw towards the horrific.

Patton Oswalt is an Emmy-winning writer, actor, and comedian who has starred in over 200 works for film and television. His career runs the gamut from stand-up to voiceover work, from indie film to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and from cult classics to mainstream blockbusters. A devoted cinephile and astute commentator on popular culture, Oswalt is featured in Philippe's latest film, Chain Reactions.
