Rob Reiner’s directorial debut has developed into a cult phenomenon. The film that invented the “rockumentary” has now outlasted most of the bands it mocked. A film crew (led by Reiner) tags-along on the ill-fated American comeback tour of an aging British heavy-metal band named Spinal Tap. The film has joined the ranks of the greatest comedies ever made and was deemed culturally significant by the Library of Congress in 2002 and was selected for preservation by the National Film Registry.
