With a title borrowed from J.D. Salinger, Ethan Hawke’s documentary debut explores the life of pianist and devoted teacher Seymour Bernstein. By the age of 15, Bernstein was an accomplished concert pianist who began teaching others, which would continue to this day. Hawke’s subject is a captivating storyteller with much to share, like his service during the Korean War where he performed on the front lines for military leaders. The film introduces us to a warm and generous man who has practiced a harmonious balance between life and art. (2K DCP presentation)
