About Real Women Have Curves
A coming-of-age story of a first generation Latina, Ana García (America Ferrera), who struggles to balance her family’s culture where she is expected to work in her sister’s dress warehouse, find a husband, and have children while forgetting her dreams of a college education. Curves on a blossoming young woman can be sexy, but not if you are told you have too many of them. Real Women Have Curves is a humorous and warmhearted look at a Mexican-American teenage girl coming of age in a boiling cauldron of cultural expectations, class constrictions, family duty, and her own personal aspirations.
