Friesner and Founding Director Jon Vickers at Morgenstern Books on Tuesday, September 21, at 4:30pm for a book signing and author conversation. The conversation portion of the event will be livestreamed from Morgenstern Book’s Facebook page.

Set during the advent of “talkies,” Don Lockwood (Gene Kelly) has risen to stardom during Hollywood’s silent-movie era, paired with the beautiful, jealous, and dumb Lina Lamont (Jean Hagen in her Oscar-nominated performance). When Lockwood becomes attracted to young studio singer Kathy Selden (Debbie Reynolds), Lamont has her fired. But with the introduction of talking pictures, Lockwood finds his career in jeopardy when audiences hear Lamont’s shrill voice for the first time—that is, until the studio decides to use Selden to dub her voice.
