This program features four short films from Naomi Uman, whose experimental style utilizes unique hand-manipulation techniques. In Removed, Uman uses nail varnish to eliminate the female form from a strip of 1970s pornography. Private Movie takes an abstract approach to the love story, presenting a gorgeously monochrome sense of place. In Hand Eye Coordination, hand-scratched film and a jarring industrial score make for a provocative approach to the close-up. Uman takes a different approach with Leche, a beautiful black-and-white documentary about a Mexican farm.

Films in this program include:

  • Removed (1999; digital)
  • Private Movie (2000; digital)
  • Hand Eye Coordination (2002; digital)
  • Leche (1998; digital)
