About Evil Dead II

Part horror, part comedy, all classic Raimi. We're back in the woods with Ash Williams (the iconic Bruce Campbell) once again battling horrifying demons at a secluded cabin. After discovering an audiotape left by a college professor that contains voices reading from the Book of the Dead, Ash's girlfriend Linda becomes possessed by evil spirits that are awakened by the voices on the tape and Ash soon discovers there is no escaping the woods. [85 min; horror, comedy; English]

"Evil Dead 2 is, pardon the expression, consistently lively—a ghoulish splatter comedy that uses wildly excessive gore to provoke the kind of shock that lies between a laugh and a scream." — Dave Kehr, Chicago Tribune

"Evil Dead 2's rampant inventiveness and manic energy have ensured that it will endure as a cult classic." — Joshua Klein, AV Club

"Evil Dead 2 is realized with such an unmatchable degree of ingenuity and energy that the film’s pure zaniness affirms its status as gloriously grotesque art." — Brian Eggert, Deep Focus Review
