About Woman in Motion
In 1977, NASA struggled to recruit scientists, engineers, and astronauts for their new Space Shuttle Program. That's when Nichelle Nichols, Star Trek's Lt. Uhura, challenged NASA by asking the question: "Where are my people?" Nichols then embarked on a four-month campaign to recruit the first Black, Latino, and Asian men and women to fly in space. "It's a remarkable story, aspects of which have been told before, but not with the scope or depth that director Todd Thompson delivers here." — John Anderson, Wall Street Journal
"Nichelle Nichols was much more than the beautiful Communications Officer on Star Trek. She was a groundbreaking liaison for NASA that changed the space program forever. Todd Thompson's doc is fascinatingly informative, yet inspiring." — Carla Renata, The Curvy Film Critic
"Earnest in its portrayal of Nichols' life and legacy, Woman in Motion is a documentary for lovers of Star Trek and science alike, but you don't have to be interested in either very deeply to be taken aback by the magnitude of this tale." — Nick Davie, One Room with a View
