About Shrek

Once upon a time, in a faraway swamp, there lived an ogre named Shrek whose precious solitude is suddenly shattered by an invasion of annoying fairy tale characters. They were all banished from their kingdom by the evil Lord Farquaad. Determined to save their home, not to mention his, Shrek cuts a deal with Farquaad and sets out to rescue Princess Fiona to be Farquaad’s bride. Rescuing the princess may be small, though, compared to her deep, dark secret. [90 min; animation, comedy; English]

"Shrek is alive, and with dark, sly and absolutely hilarious irreverence lampooning every once-sacred characteristic of the nursery kingdom. Shrek is a subversive joy.” — Alexander Walker, London Evening Standard

"The brilliance of the voice work, script, direction and animation all serve to make Shrek an adorable, infectious work of true sophistication." — Jami Bernard, New York Daily News

"A funny, sweet, snappy fairy tale about misfits, for misfits—or anybody who's ever felt like a misfit." — Glenn Kenny, Premiere Magazine
