About Mother/Madeo

A widowed mother attempts to clear her mentally-disabled son of the murder of a young woman after he is convicted on minimal evidence. As she investigates, she unearths secrets about the people surrounding her son and memories of her past that she desperately wants to forget. Deemed one of the best films of 2010 (the year of its American release) by the likes of the A.V. Club, the Village Voice, the New Yorker, the Wall Street Journal, Cahiers du cinéma, and more, Mother was also selected as South Korea's submission for Best Foreign Language Film at the 82nd Academy Awards. [129 min; drama, thriller; Korean with English subtitles]

"Bold, unpredictable and quietly devastating, Mother is Bong's first masterpiece." — Tom Huddleston, Time Out
