Inseparable since childhood, levelheaded Katie takes her codependent best friend Delaney on a girls’ trip to break the news that she is getting married. Things do not go as planned. Q&A with the filmmaker to follow.
Katie and Delaney, inseparable since childhood, find their paths diverging in their 30s. While Katie is happily living with her boyfriend, Delaney is single with a roommate. Despite these differences, their friendship is still a top priority, and they’ve always been the most important person in each other’s lives. That is, until Katie’s boyfriend proposes. To soften the blow, Katie plans a nostalgic trip to their childhood beach town, intending to break the news softly. But the trip takes (many) unexpected turns as Katie and Delaney try to work out what it means to be adult best friends. [120 min; comedy; English]
This screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Delaney Buffett. A writer and director from Florida, her directorial debut, the short film The Spring, won Best Documentary at the 2017 Toronto International Short Film Festival. She’s directed several other short documentaries and her narrative short, PAL, was an official selection at the 27th LA Comedy Festival. Delaney mainly works in the comedy space with her writing partner, Katie Corwin. Katie and Delaney have had film and television projects in development with Lionsgate, PopTV, Buzzfeed Studios, Rachel Brosnahan’s Scrap Paper Pictures, Nahnatchka Khan’s Fierce Baby, Sharon Horgan’s Merman, and Will Ferrell’s Gloria Sanchez.
