About Monsters
Six years ago, NASA discovered the possibility of alien life within our solar system. A probe was launched to collect samples, but crashed upon reentry over Central America. Soon after, new life forms began to appear and half of Mexico was quarantined as an "infected zone." Today, the American and Mexican military still struggle to contain "the creatures." Our story begins when a U.S. journalist (Scoot McNairy) agrees to escort a shaken American tourist (Whitney Able) through the infected zone to the safety of the U.S. border. [94 min; adventure, sci-fi, romance, thriller; English and Spanish with English subtitles]
"An amazing achievement for a 'first-time' filmmaker, which measures up to the finest indies for performance and character work, and the biggest blockbusters for jaw-dropping effects. And it has the year's best sex scene, too." — Dan Jolin, Empire
"An intelligent sci-fi film that is absorbing, thrilling, and ultimately moving. An impressively assured debut for Gareth Edwards that succeeds on pretty much every score. A clever and subtle blending of the best of District 9 and Cloverfield, with a believable love story thrown in for good measure." — Mark Adams, Screen International
"A startlingly original and haunting take on our ageless fear of otherness." — Marjorie Baumgarten, Austin Chronicle
