About Edge of Tomorrow
Major William Cage (Tom Cruise) is an officer who has never seen a day of combat when he is unceremoniously dropped into what amounts to a suicide mission. Killed within minutes of attempting to battle a legion of unbeatable alien combatants, Cage now finds himself inexplicably thrown into a time loop—forcing him to live out the same brutal combat over and over, fighting and dying again …and again. But with each battle, Cage becomes able to engage the adversaries with increasing skill, alongside Special Forces warrior Rita "The Angel of Verdun" Vrataski (Emily Blunt). As Cage and Vrataski take the fight to the aliens, each repeated encounter gets them one step closer to defeating the enemy. [113 min; action, adventure, sci-fi; English]
"At first glance it may come across as a typical, run-of-the-mill alien invasion picture. Times are bad on planet Earth and the human race is close to extinction. Our last hope lies in a big beach invasion on the European coast akin to D-Day. But while many aspects of that will sound very familiar, the movie throws us a clever curveball which is not only fresh but very entertaining." — Keith Garlington, Keith and the Movies
"The reason the film works is because it throws everything into the blender and comes up with something new, something that has a great, lively sense of wit and humor to it, and it takes the time to fully explore its wild premise fully." — Drew McWeeny, Hitfix
"Groundhog Day meets Aliens, and it's great." — Richard Trenholm, CNET
