About Jorgensen Guest Filmmaker Series Presents: Michael Shannon, Brett Neveu, and "Eric LaRue"
In Michael Shannon’s directorial debut—adapted from Brett Neveu’s 2002 renowned stage play—a mother struggles to cope in the aftermath of a shocking crime at the hands of her son. Janice (Judy Greer) is struggling, moving through life as if in a haze and unable to let go of her anger and frustration following her son's violent and shocking crimes. While her husband (Alexander Skarsgård) has found refuge at a new church, Janice finds it hard to seek solace in her faith despite her pastor’s pleas to heal her wounds by meeting with the mothers of her son’s victims. As Janice ponders her role in the community, she questions whether there is any established path to healing from an experience such as hers. Eric LaRue asks audiences to witness the frayed emotional ripples violent acts can engender. [119 min; drama; English]
