Re:Made
Re:Made pairs an original film with its remake to articulate how filmmaking, film culture, and film impact evolves as the industry, audiences, and cultures change. Each pair of films is combined with a conversation between filmmaking professionals, academics, and other film experts, focusing on one particular aspect of the films' evolution over time.
This program is generously funded by the Roberta and S. James Sherman Inspiring Conversations Fund.
This season’s Re:Made program is concerned with the permutations of film form, and examines first the transition of a fiction film into a documentary format, and second, the challenges and benefits of transforming a short film into a feature-length project. These screenings include:
February 8, 7pm: The Sitter + When A Stranger Calls | A psychopathic killer terrorizes a babysitter, then returns seven years later to menace her again in this tense thriller.
February 21, 7pm: Chasing Amy | Writer-director Kevin Smith tackles an array of thorny themes with a mixture of sensitivity and raw honesty in this story of a man who discovers he's not his dream girl's perfect match.
February 22, 7pm: Chasing Chasing Amy | A film that examines the complex legacy of Kevin Smith's Chasing Amy on LGBTQ+ people and its life-saving impact on director Sav Rodgers.
