When he is passed over for a promotion, sous chef Samir decides to go to Paris to apprentice under a master French chef. He puts his dreams aside after his father has a heart attack and he must take over the nearly bankrupt family restaurant in Jackson Heights. Luckily, he crosses paths with Akbar, a taxi driver, passionate chef, and worldly raconteur. With Akbar’s guidance, Samir rediscovers his heritage and his passion for life through the enchanting art of cooking Indian food. (35mm presentation)
