It’s 1984. Eleven-year old Boy lives with his brother Rocky, his grandmother and cousins in rural New Zealand. Boy has an overactive imagination and is a huge Michael Jackson fan. When Boy’s father Alamein (played by Waititi) comes back to town after an extended absence, hijinks ensue. Alamein is nothing like Boy imagined. A box-office hit in New Zealand, Taika Waititi’s (Te Whanau-a-Apanui) second feature is a delightfully quirky coming of age story.
