Transformed into a vigilante after shattering personal tragedy, average guy-turned-ninja John (John Liu, The Secret Rivals, Invincible Armor) is on a mission to clean up the mean streets of 1984 New York City. Hell-bent on justice, John soon finds himself the target of every criminal in the city, including the mysterious Plutonium Killer. Can John survive to be the hero NYC desperately needs?

Originally directed by Liu in his only American production, New York Ninja was filmed entirely on 35mm in 1984, but the project was abandoned during production resulting in all original sound materials, scripts, and treatments going missing. 35 years later, Vinegar Syndrome acquired the original unedited camera negative and painstakingly constructed and completed the film. Enlisting the voice talents of genre favorites like Don “The Dragon” Wilson (Bloodfist), Linnea Quigley (Return of the Living Dead), Michael Berryman (The Hills Have Eyes), Ginger Lynn Allen (The Devil’s Rejects), and Cynthia Rothrock (China O’Brien), this is a one-of-a-kind film experience, finally available in all its over-the-top glory for the first time after nearly four decades in film obscurity.

“An impressive feat in reconstruction and a riotous time that will have you screaming, ‘I love the New York Ninja!’” — Adam Symchuk, Asian Movie Pulse

“It's that kind of silly, ridiculous, campy ninjasploitation soaked in New York City ephemera that you're bound to fall in love with.” — Felix Vasquez, Cinema Crazed

“Not one but two '80s-style goons wearing jockstraps on the outside of their clothes and a ninja on roller-skates. What else do you need to hear?” — Brent McKnight, The Last Thing I See
