About Naked Acts
Imagine that your grandmother was Dorothy Dandridge, your mother was Pam Grier, and you wanted to be an actress. Who would you be? With Naked Acts’ story of a young actress struggling against pressure to perform a nude scene onscreen, writer/director Bridgett M. Davis sets out to examine the impact on self-image of “the dominant film portrayals of Black women in this country’s cinematic history” and “to get beyond the limitations placed on our bodies by our racialized past." [90 min; comedy, drama; English]
A Q&A with filmmaker Bridgett M. Davis and Elena Guzman (African American and African Diaspora Studies, Anthropology) will follow the screening.
