About Beetlejuice

After Barbara and Adam Maitland (Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin) die in a car accident, they find themselves stuck haunting their country residence, unable to leave the house. When the unbearable Deetzes and their teen daughter Lydia (Winona Ryder) buy the home, the Maitlands attempt to scare them away without success. Their efforts attract Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton), a rambunctious spirit whose help quickly becomes dangerous for the Maitlands and innocent Lydia. [92 min; comedy, horror; English]

This screening is in conjunction with IU Auditorium's upcoming April 10-12 performances of Beetlejuice: The Musical.

“In 1988, Michael Keaton needed only 17 minutes to create one of the best and weirdest characters in Hollywood history.” — Simon Gallagher, Screen Rant

“The film is a creative triumph, with amazing characters and boundless background details that flesh out the world.” — Joe Lipsett, Horror Queers podcast

“At the end, you feel exhilarated, because the cunning way Burton works is part of the joke. His innocent deviousness lifts you up high, like helium.” — Owen Gleiberman, Boston Phoenix
