About Moulin Rouge!
Set against the Parisian backdrop of a spectacular Moulin Rouge show, an idealistic young writer (Ewan McGregor) is drafted into a bohemian entourage and falls in love with an ambitious, stunning, and ultimately doomed courtesan (Nicole Kidman), who is caught between the hero she's falling for, too, and a ruthless duke, whose fortune could help save her and the Moulin Rouge. McGregor and Kidman lead an internationally renowned cast in this swooningly romantic and pop-music-inspired dancing and singing extravaganza with musical inspiration from the likes of David Bowie, Beck, Labelle, Madonna, and Fatboy Slim. The film would go on to inspire the Broadway stage production of Moulin Rouge! The Musical. [127 min; musical, drama, romance; English, French, and Spanish with English subtitles]

"Luhrmann has raised the level of his game, deconstructing the Hollywood musical—a genre all but left for dead—and reassembling it with a potency that hasn't been seen since Cabaret." — David Ansen, Newsweek
"Kidman owns this movie and steals scene after scene from her co-stars with a sizzling and scandalous performance." — Gary Wolcott, Tri-City Herald
