About Megadoc

The bold and unrelenting epic returns in Mike Figgis’ portrait of Francis Ford Coppola’s creative process in making Megalopolis—weaving together archival material, unfiltered cast interviews, and a close-up view of how the legendary filmmaker drew from Roman history, political allegory, and his own singular vision to shape the world of Megalopolis. This isn’t a record of a production on the brink, it’s a personal memoir unfolding in real time. [107 min; documentary; English]

This screening will be followed by a Q&A with Prof. Jeff Menne, Head of the Department of English and Professor of Screen Studies at Oklahoma State University. Menne's work is focused on the history of American postwar cinema and he has published two books, Francis Ford Coppola (University of Illinois Press, 2014) and Post-Fordist Cinema: Hollywood Auteurs and the Corporate Counterculture (Columbia University Press, 2019).

"Megalopolis is one of those movies that feels like it offers an accurate window behind the scenes of its own creation process, and Megadoc confirms as much without ever becoming redundant." — David Ehrlich, IndieWire

"Watching Coppola land on his head and then pick himself back up again and point himself at another brick wall is ultimately strangely inspiring." — Glenn Kenny, RogerEbert.com

"Figgis’ Megadoc is an engrossing look at one of the biggest pet projects of all time." — Ross Bonaime, Collider
