Indiana University Cinema is located in the heart of the Bloomington campus, between the IU Auditorium to the west and the Lee Norvelle Theater and Drama Center to the east. When you see the statue of Hoagy Carmichael, you will be standing right outside of our doors! Each semester, we typically screen more than 120 film titles, host dozens of filmmakers and scholars, and offer unique cinematic experiences. Intimate conversations occur on a regular basis between IU Cinema patrons and some of the most prominent artists and scholars in film, providing unparalleled opportunities for engagement and enrichment to IU students, faculty, staff, and the Bloomington community.

As a THX® Certified, single-screen, 260-seat venue, equipped with 16mm and 35mm film projectors and 2K and 4K digital cinema projectors, IU Cinema is considered one of the best university cinemas in the United States.

For the 2020–21 school year, IU Cinema plans to offer virtual cinematic experiences with interactive Q&As and screenings, as well as limited in-person events, including potential outreach events and outdoor screenings.
